Craig C Stahlberg

Craig Stahlberg entered the insurance industry in 1988 as Controller for Western States Insurance. Prior to that, he spent two years in public accounting with a Montana regional CPA firm. During his tenure at Western States Insurance, the agency grew from three offices with approximately thirty employees and generating $2.5 million of revenues to the 30th largest privately held insurance agency in the United States, with over four hundred employees, located in thirty offices in four states, and generating in excess of $50 million of revenues.

Over the past twenty-eight years Craig received numerous promotions including Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, and later, Executive Vice President/Chief Financial Officer. Effective November 1, 2012 he became co-CFO and then Vice President of Finance for PayneWest Insurance, one of the fifteen largest independently owned insurance agencies in the country with over 700 employees. His primary areas of focus have been strategic long term planning, data integrity and analysis, and insurance agency acquisitions. He has been actively involved in networking at the national level through Assurex Partners and the Council of Independent Agents and Brokers, as well as with national consulting groups Reagan Consulting and Marsh Berry & Co. For the 2006/2007 term, Craig was the chairman of the advisory council for the “Agency Peak Performance Exchange (“APPEX”), a national networking group of high performing independent insurance agencies sponsored by Marsh Berry & Co.

Craig is a Montana native and a graduate of the University of Montana. In 1986 he earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting, and went on to successfully pass the uniform CPA exam on his first attempt, achieving his CPA certification in 1987. Craig is an active community member, with a history of efforts focused for School Council, Boy Scouts of America, the American Red Cross and Sentinel Kiwanis. Most recently, Craig has shifted to part-time work while pursuing a Masters of Science in Business Analytics at the University of Montana.

Craig has been married to his wife Julie for twenty- years and they are the proud parents of two wonderful children, Jacob and Caleb.
