The Montana Society of CPAs’ Governmental Audit, Accounting and Financial Reporting Committee is proud to present a conference that focuses on accounting, auditing and reporting issues affecting Montana’s local governments. This conference has been designed for auditors of local governments, representatives of city, county, town and district governing boards and accountants from city, county, town and school district business offices.

8:00am - 11:30am - GASB Update with Scott A. Reeser, GASB
This GASB update session will cover standards that have been issued that are still in the implementation stage as well as projects currently on the GASB’s current technical agenda. This session will feature an in-depth look at the new reporting requirements and implementation guidance that has been issued related to fiduciary activities and leases. The session will also cover standards on asset retirement obligations, debt disclosures, construction-period interest costs, majority equity interests, and conduit debt. Finally, this session will cover due process documents expected to be released in this summer related to the financial reporting model and revenue and expense recognition projects.

11:30am - 12:30pm - Lunch (provided) - with a presentation on the Five Components of Internal Controls

12:30pm - 4:00pm - Fraud & Official Misconduct Criminal Investigations with Anthony Poppler, DOJ-DCI
The presentation will help identify past trends and commonalities from previous criminal investigations conducted by DCI and identify basic measures that could have prevented criminal acts from occurring.
