The purpose of the Montana Society of Certified Public Accountants Scholarship is to reward excellence in accounting by providing an award to a student who meets the following criteria:

  • Accounting Major
  • At least a junior standing with at least one semester of coursework remaining
  • Minimum GPA of 3.00 overall
  • Graduate students eligible
  • Must be a student member of the MSCPA
  • Must be a graduate of a Montana high school and currently a Montana resident
Who is Chosen? The application process is maintained and winners are chosen by each individual school, listed below:

    Anthony Gerharz Scholarship & Marilyn Bartlett Scholarship
  • Montana State University

  • University of Montana

This yearly scholarship may be applied for by a Montana high school graduate who is a Montana resident and majoring in accounting.

Eldon Kuhns was a long-time Montana businessman and CPA in Billings who owned the group of banks known as Montana Bancsystem, Inc. In loving tribute to her husband's memory, JoAnn Kuhns created the Kuhns family scholarship to recognize the tremendous talents and potential of Montana accounting students. Each year the family provides two scholarships to future CPAs through the Montana Society of Certified Public Accountants.
